Skills

A skill is a short how-to for one kind of task: how to write a meeting recap, how to prepare a battle card, how to review a contract. An agent knows which skills it has, and opens one when a task calls for it. A skill it doesn't need for a task costs nothing.

When an agent used a skill, the reply shows Used skill: and the skill's name underneath it.

Skills belong to your workspace, not to one agent, so several agents can use the same skill.

Where to find them

Open an agent's settings (the settings button at the top of its conversation) and choose the Skills tab. Claos has the same tab in its settings panel.

The tab has two parts:

  • Active: the skills this agent uses, with a count such as 3 of 12. An agent can have up to 12.
  • Add skills: everything you can add, with a search box. It starts with Suggested for Alex (with your agent's name, picked to fit the agent's job), then In your library (skills your workspace already has), then the ready-made catalog by category: Productivity, Creative, Marketing, Sales, Support, Engineering, Analytics, Legal, Operations and People.

Click a skill to read it, and choose Add to give it to the agent. Adding a ready-made skill also puts a copy in your library, where you can change it.

Writing your own

Choose Create skill in the Add skills section. A new skill opens at the top of Active:

  1. Type what the agent should do, and how, in the document.
  2. Give it a name and a short description. The description helps the agent recognise when the skill fits a task.
  3. Not sure how to write it? Give it a name, or paste what you have, and choose Generate. Claos writes the skill for you. Once there's a fair amount of text, the button becomes Rewrite, which reworks what you have.

Changes save as you type. A skill can be up to 10,000 characters. Shorter is better: a clear task, the shape of a good result, and the points that matter.

Importing and exporting

Skills move as Markdown files.

  • Import: choose Import, then paste the Markdown or use Choose a file, and choose Import skill. A name and description at the top of the file are read, and the rest becomes the skill.
  • Export: a skill's menu has Copy as markdown and Download .md.

Changing and removing a skill

Open a skill in Active to edit it. If other agents use it too, an icon in its header says how many: editing a skill changes it for every agent that has it.

The skill's menu also has:

  • Move up and Move down, to change the order (or drag it on a computer).
  • Remove from this agent: the agent stops using it, and it stays in your library for others.
  • Delete from workspace: removes it from every agent that uses it and moves it to Trash. Restoring it from Trash puts it back on the same agents.

Choose Share a link from a skill's menu, then Create link. Anyone who opens the link can read the skill, and it doesn't show your workspace, your agents or who wrote it. Copy copies the link; Revoke turns it off.

Someone who opens a shared skill can choose Add to workspace to copy it into their own workspace (they're asked to sign up first if they don't have an account), or Download .md to save the file. A copy is theirs: later changes to your skill don't reach it.

When an agent suggests a change

As an agent works, it may suggest an improvement to one of its skills. Owners and admins see these at the top of the agent's Skills tab, under Agent skill changes, with what would change and how many agents use the skill. Nothing changes until someone chooses Approve. Reject discards it.

Who can do what

  • Viewers can see an agent's skills and read them.
  • Members can create, edit, share and delete skills, and add or remove skills on agents they created.
  • Admins and owners can do all of that on any agent, and approve or reject an agent's suggested changes.
