What this room is for

Brief

Overview

This room covers a consulting engagement end to end, from scoping what the client is actually buying to handing over the finished deliverable. In between sit the deliverable itself, the time the engagement consumes, and keeping the client informed while the work is in flight. Much of the value lies in reuse, since a framework or approach that worked on one engagement should not be reinvented on the next. Deliverables are where the work is judged, and they are also where time most easily overruns what was scoped. Winning the next engagement, through proposals and the record of past ones, runs alongside the current work.

Key topics

  1. Engagement scoping: what the client is buying, and the plan and stakeholders that shape it.
  2. Deliverable production: the recommendations, reports and analysis the client is paying for.
  3. Client updates: keeping the client informed on progress while an engagement is in flight.
  4. Time and budget: how the hours spent on an engagement compare with what was scoped.
  5. Reusable frameworks: the methods and case material carried forward from one engagement to the next.
  6. Proposals and pipeline: shaping the next engagement before the current one ends.
